Arlington Arts Alliance Established

August 16, 2007

On April 5, 2006, the Chamber Foundation Board of Directors authorized the creation and establishment of the Arlington Arts Alliance as a program component of the Foundation. The Alliance serves as a forum for collaboration and communication among Arlington’s art community, the business community and government, engaging the business community in support of the arts.  The Alliance also works with the Texas Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts to identify and secure additional resources for the Arts in Arlington.

Currently, the Arlington Arts Alliance consists of representatives from the Chamber’s Board of Directors and Foundation Board, the City of Arlington, the University of Texas at Arlington, Tarrant County College SE Campus and Arlington Independent School District, as well as CEOs of large and small businesses, arts patrons, community representatives, and leaders of arts and cultural organizations.

In December 2005, the Chamber Foundation commissioned an Arts Feasibility Study as part of the Foundation’s Business and the Arts Initiative which was launched to encourage business leaders and organizations to enhance support of Arlington’s arts community. The study validated the premise that if Arlington’s arts were better supported by the business community, they would make a greater contribution to both the quality of life and the economic development in Arlington.
